ELPIS Association has joined the fundraising campaign launched several months ago by “Louis Turcanu” Emergency Hospital for Children Timisoara, the main pediatric hospital in Western Romania, whose viability is seriously challenged at the moment.
With more than a century-long tradition of providing medical care and 200 patients treated each day, the hospital founded in 1903 is now facing the threat of not being able to ensure continuity for some important services. The Sections of Pediatric Surgery and Orthopedics, including the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Departments, Otolaryngology (ENT), Ophthalmology, Pulmonary, Phthisiology and also the Laboratory could be closed down.

ELPIS Association is actively involved in a fundraising campaign to garner support for “Cristian Serban” Medical Center for Evaluation and Rehabilitation for Children and Youth Buzias, in Timis county, which was damaged by a fire that completely destroyed the roof and the top floor of the central building, in May 2012.
The Center was built exclusively from donations and sponsorships and then became part of the public health system so that more and more patients could benefit from free medical care. Unique in Romania and even in Eastern Europe, it could provide treatment for more than 500 children and young people diagnosed with diabetes and hemophilia annually. …
